ahhhhh...spring is springing in my friends. and here in Berkeley that means some of the most beautiful weather i've ever had the joy to feel against my skin...and for me spring is a time to dream and try to bring dreams to flesh...
so much going on right now...
1. need to get a better for-a-living job...GRRR, I HATE JOBSEARCHING
2. will soon send in my first book and music reviews for ValCapone's BlackHeart Magazine. If you don't know this lady you owe it to yourself to check out both her profile and her mag. I think she's still got a link to the PDF of the latest issue of her blog, and if it's not there, you can find it in her post on Filthy Dirty Smutty Storytime....
3. and speaking of filthy dirty smutty stories, i've decided to let poesie to take a sort of a backseat for the moment and try to get some erotic stories on the page. You can check out the first manifestation in the Filthy Dirty Smutty Storytime group if you're a smut-lover like me. But be warned! Besides being a poetry-slut and erotica-freak, I'm also a sci-fi geek...and hence the story is very definitely speculative fiction. Nonetheless, I'd love to hear y'all's (that's right, I said y'all) thoughts....
4. still plugging away at the poesie, of course. some of my work should appear at www.apoetelephone.com soooon...
5. trying to get a job writing for a book on California shamanism...the editor's kinda anal, but I want the job!
6. listening to OpIvy for the first time in years....ah, teenage crushes. And speaking of such...Naked Aggression's playing Gilman on St. Patty's! So exciting!
But #5 leaves me with the problem of what to do for the day celebrating the sainted bastard responsible for driving lovely paganism out of the Emerald Isles....do I...
1. Spend the whole day drinking Guinness with my housemates...
2. Go see Naked Aggression...possibly by myself
3. Go see my poet-mentor Lisa Robertson read in the City...
I've had ambitious thoughts of trying to do all three...but then I realize that that puts me at a MOTHERFUCKING POETRY READING DRUNK OFF MY ASSSSSSS....and then I'll have to talk to one of the people I respect the most...and explain why I'm not working on my M.F.A. yet...
This is a problem...

I'd suggest number three for your Saturday frolics. You may wake up in the morning with pains, bruises and fresh regrets, but think of the frisson it'll give to Sunday.
In my experience, true Christianty (which is rarely even glimpsed by most) has a hell of a lot in common with paganism, with nature-worship and elemental beings and so on. Christ's being encompasses all that. But, as you'll have noticed, the early churchmen felt the need to drive that out as much as they could, maybe wrongly, maybe wisely, but their actions, I believe, should never be allowed to stand in the way of an objective understanding of Christianity itself, which can only be found independently, through individual effort.
I see Christ more in a dandelion or a stream than I do in a forbidding cathedral or in the fiery words of a bible-bashing preacher.
Yep.
