Had to move all of my mother's belongings to her new digs today. Running on only four hours of sleep makes Dave a cranky boy. I whined for about the first hour "it's snowing, this sucks", "Im cold", "we cant get this all finished today", "the water here tastes like dookie". I had to quit 'cos my brother was about to stick a steak knife in my eye - the one we found under my mom's mattress. It seems that is her weapon of choice if someone breaks in. My mother's favorite movie is "Rosemary's Baby" and she digs the '70s horror scene so that might provide some insight on her. Digressing.
My body hurts, my hands are cold. My seventeen year old cousin is really great. Despite being raised in total redneckedness and being somewhat of a redneck himself, he has a good soul and I love him. He asked me about college and how hard it was (there is only one college graduate besides myself in my family for about three generations and about eight levels of cousins). I told him how it was hard at first and you just get used to it and keep climbing blah blah. He sat there for a minute then told me how he realized last year that partying is not the answer to life and that he wants to get going on applying for schools and such. I was astounded, as his mother is really a...well she's my aunt so I need to be ni-zice, but she goes on record as saying "God, why did I have kids" in front of her son when he was four.
What is it about going home to lovely Ogden, Utah that makes me want to buy "industrial" music? I dont even think about bands like Pigface until I drive through town. Someone recently wrote an article about Ogden with the headline, "Meth-Torn Town". The first says "Ogden makes me want to smoke. A slow suicide really..."
My point: I purchased The Best Of Pigface and am so happy. I hadnt purchased a disc from those freaky pranksters since Gub came out. I also purchased Back and Forth Series Five by Skinny Puppy (live from 2000). Very pleased.
