I have about 75% of those albums and I generally think they are good but my list would be different, I think. I guess I will copy your idea and do a list of my own. I am glad you like the Alejandro Escovedo record. I have have been a fan since his Rank and File days, but I can't really say that, objectively, it is a top 20 of the year kind of album. Anyway, nice work and thanks for the idea. Btw, Happy New Year!
rubbersoul:
Ok, I posted my list.
What does it say about me that I'd already heard every non-hip-hop or non-electronic album on Pitchfork's 50 Best Albums of 2008? Nothing good, I suspect.
I really hate how there's always a random mainstream rapper in these lists, though. Lil' Wayne in this case. No rock critic would put Nickelback on a Top 50 list. Why do Top 40 rappers get a pass?

I love your comment on "New to Wow" In the world of warcraft group
I don't know if you guys know, but I've been working nights this year. Tonight is one of my nights off, so I'm up by myself just listening to music so loud that I can hardly think of anything else.
Life is good. Listening to my proto-"Best of 2008" mix so I can tag it on Last.fm.
The dogs are even so sound asleep that...

Go here and listen to the top two songs in their entirety. I am fucking obsessed with this album right now.

I was expecting something noisier, but I'm liking this quite a bit.
Plus, I now have a crush on Sarah Lipstate.

I just noticed you're a GW fan. The picture of the Space Marine on the loo reading White Dwarf reminds me of when I was kid reading the new mag I'd just gotten in the mail, I'd read them cover to cover. I think I might still have some old school mags in a box somewhere (a few issues pre and including 100).
Cool band by the way, how'd you hear about them? The second song vaguely reminds me of TISM's "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Then Me."

For the first time in my adult life, I am proud to be an American.

I agree, a mix would be the best exposure to a band with as long and as varied a catalog as the Beatles', but:
1) I only own a few albums (CDs) of theirs myself (sadly, Revolver doesn't happen to be one of them)
2) I would probably go crazy attempting to compile an 80-minute "best of" CD for that band, even if I did own all of their works.
I figured that, in lieu of that option, it might also be valuable (or at least interesting) to him to hear a complete album of theirs from start to finish, rather than a collection of famous songs from different eras. Thanks for your input.

Ha. I admit, I'm behind any technological curve by several years, easily. While I have hardware capable of music (and other) downloads, I don't care to pay for a legal one in this case, and I'm pretty leery of any that could be considered even remotely illegal.
Maybe I'm being unduly paranoid, but music sharing/downloads aren't something I've ever really looked into, and as such I have no idea where to, or how to, search for something safely.
