Well, I may be a little late, but I would like to wish everyone a happy new year. I really hope this year is better than the last. Well, 2002 did not have all in store for it that I hoped. I truly wanted to have more interaction on this site, and to meet people, read and post in journals, but I guess that didn't happen. There is always this year, right?

I have been pondering the scene/style I love. I remember a time when you had to scour drugstores around Halloween for black lipstick, and stock up for the year. If you were lucky, the local Fredericks of Hollywood would carry Fishnets. Now, you can buy all of that stuff at Hot Topic. Hell, I remember when Hot Topic was obscure, and I was made fun of for listening to NIN, and wearing all black to school. Granted, that was almost 10 years ago, but still. Things have drastically changed. I guess I should kinda feel like if I (and others who were into the "alternative" at the time) hadn't gone through the torment and harrassment that we did, things wouldn't be so accepted. Body piercing wouldn't be "cool" and "hip". Tattoos would still be taboo. I dunno. I feel like I am sounding all old here, and that is not my goal. I also do not mean to offend anyone, I can just remember things being quite a bit different, and I even went to High School very close to San Francisco. I think I knew it was all over when the Quarterback of my High School Football team starting wearing a beanie, listening to Green Day and calling himself "Punk", and became a Manager at Hot Topic.
