Many of you have noticed the coveted tag #kaicito seal of approval that is bestowed upon a select few sets and is recognized by one and all as the true mark of set excellence. The @kaicito inbox is inundated daily with questions about this coveted accolade, so we felt it would be a service to the community to provide a few answers in the form of this FAQ:
How does a Hopeful or SG set earn the Kaicito Seal of Approval?
After a set has been submitted by a Hopeful or SG to Membership Review, it is rigorously evaluated by the scientists and engineers in the @kaicito labs - in other words, by me, myself, moi and I. Evaluation of a given set includes reviewing objective and quantifiable criteria of photographic quality, model attractiveness, set concept and execution, and so forth. The set will earn the Kaicito Seal of Approval if it earns at least a 75 on a 100-point scale.
There are already so many labels, awards and certifications — what makes the Kaicito Seal of Approval more valuable to SG members?
In a website glutted with a daily avalanche of sets of varying quality, the Kaicito Seal of Approval offers members the guidance they need to further peruse certain sets or the output of certain models. Time is precious, you know.
Do all sets "liked" by @kaicito earn the Seal?
Even if it sometimes seems that way, the answer is No. In all of May, 2018, for instance, the coveted seal has so far been bestowed only 24 times, or on average less than once per day.
How many sets have the Kaicito Seal of Approval?
New sets are constantly and painstakingly being evaluated for the Seal every day, so the number is constantly rising. At this time, there are hundreds of sets with the Kaicito Seal of Approval.
Are there certain sets that cannot get the Kaicito Seal of Approval?
Yes. While every set has a chance to receive the Seal, the board of @kaicito set testers reserves the right to withhold the Seal in cases of non-participation in the SG community - in other words, Hopefuls whose only engagement with SG consists of submitting sets will not have such sets crowned by the Seal.
Can the scrupulous judgment of the @kaicito testing team be swayed by, ahem, enticements?
Of course not! The @kaicito testers are incorruptible. Wait, what did you mean by "enticements" again?
