...the German Baltic coast, that is. We just spent a nice 3.5-day weekend in the Darss region on the German coast, just a little slip of land lodged between the Baltic Sea proper and a lagoon-like saltwater body called the Bodden. The small region is frequented by vacationers from Berlin and other cities, and many of the beautifully outfitted traditional or newly built houses are rented out. The area also is a resting place on the seasonal flights of cranes, who gather in protected islands and marshes.
A very enjoyable little break, only marred by a horrendous traffic jam on the way back which basically doubled our travel time.
