Talking bucket lists is not one of my favorite topics, since in all statistical likelihood I'm a lot closer to the proverbial bucket than most folks on here. Also, when I come to think of it, it's already too late in my life for some long-range stuff. But here goes, in no order of priority:
(1) While I feel ambivalent about travel, because deep down I think it's insane how polluting most travel is, and how travel to exotic places tends to mess up these destinations, I still have a few far-off places I'd like to see, Japan being at the top of that list. And since I'll probably have at best one such trip in me (or my budget), it should encompass Tokyo, the Kansai region, Mt. Fuji and a Shinkansen trip.
(2) México is another place I'd like to see, especially Ciudad de México, and the Yucatán and Oaxaca regions.
(3) Ambitious as it may seem, I think I have a book in me that I want to write...probably more likely nonfiction than fiction. Should be doable with all the self-publishing options available today!
(4) Learning languages has come easily to me in the past, and I'd still like to learn at least one more... perhaps Italian.
(5) This really has a lot more priority than the others - find a job that isn't a dead end, spirit-deadening one like my current one. While I'm in wishful thinking mode, make it a well-paying one, too!
(6) I really want to become fitter, which really gets more difficult as you age. I guess in terms of concrete bucket-list-worthy goals, I want to lose (and keep off) about 10 kg, and run at least a half-marathon.
(7) I want to get at least one tattoo before I kick the bucket. I don't have one now, and am reluctant to do it, because it would mess up my blood-donating schedule (I give blood on a regular basis, i.e. about every 8 weeks...and when you get a tattoo, the Red Cross bars you for about 4 months from giving).
(8) Also, bizarre as this may seem to many of you, I've never so much as smoked a joint. One of these days, I'll do that! Amsterdam, here I come ;-)
(9) I really hope to meet one or more of my favorite SGs. You know who you are! <3
(10) As a more general goal, I want to give back to the community... I suppose the concrete way of stating this is that I want to find worthy pro bono work, like teaching refugees, assisting the impaired, or visiting the (even more) elderly.
So we'll see how these work out!
