first let me say that i heart At The Drive-In. id never heard anything by The Mars Volta until last night when they opened for The Pixies.
maybe they're albums are better, but the performance last night made me want to stab my eyes out. it resembled a garage band practice session where the band lives next door to you and they think they rule... but they don't. you call the police to get them to shut up, but it just continues...
for a L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G L O N G time. they obviously have talent, but their jim morrison/ led zeppelin insired jam session was not what i was in the mood for.
but the Pixies on the other hand....

I wish I could, but I've got to meet some college friends way way out in monrovia! I'm not quite sure how I will survive yet.

I saw the Pixies at the Greek. They were much better (somehow) than I remember them in the late 80's. "Wave of Mutilation" still rocks my world 15 years later.
