Do people who use woke as a pejorative realize that they're saying that people who are different from them in regards to race, sexuality, or belief not only shouldn't be listened to but should also just suck up any abuse anyone wants to subject them to?
Me: "You really should reconsider believing that members of the LGBTQ community don't deserve the the same rights as everyone else and while we're at it supporting a system where the police routinely get away with executing the poor and minorities should be fixed also listening to science is good"
Them: "Shut up you fucking woke zombie"
Me: "You realize that that trees don't want anything to do with the CO2 (in your language magic exhale gas) you exude because they're concerned it will make them worse at being trees?"

@jozsef I respectfully disagree - it's an appropriation in an attempt to dismiss empathy as a weakness. Virtue signaling is, sadly, often used the same way though you are correct there are instances where that is, more rarely now, correctly used to call out someone who is being manipulative.

I don't disagree with you. My convoluted writing style is often only clear to me and then only for the rest of that one day. I wish I was kidding.
