Just when I thought I had life figured out...
I was getting treatment yesterday and started to chat with the person in the chair next to me. For those that don't know, most cancer patients go to a clinic, sit in a big room in a big comfy chair with other patients, and have radioactive chemicals pumped into their arm. Once you are glowing in the dark, most cancer patients go on about their daily routine - work, school, whatever. Depends on how sick you are. Anyway, a lot of patients like to chat amongst themselves and with the staff to pass the time.
Anyway, I had promised myself that I was not going to chat with other patients any longer because I had seen a few of them pass away in the last few weeks. One girl in particular died from leukemia and her passing hit me pretty hard. But yesterday we had a new recruit, a woman with breast cancer, and she seemed nervous and like she wanted to chat. We had a nice conversation and realized that we had some mutual friends in the area.
Well, through those mutual friends she got my number and callled this afternoon to invite me to dinner. I was floored. Going out on a date has been the furthest thing from my mind - for so long - that it didn't dawn on me that I was being "asked out" until she made her intentions clear. I am still a little taken aback by the whole thing.
So, cancer boy is going on a date. Wish me luck.
As I type this there is a HUGE storm passing through the area. I love storms - the more violent the better. And we have some GREAT storms here in Texas. My two dogs aren't loving it though. So they are snuggled up on the couch with me wanting me to protect them.
I hope everyone is well and happy.
You are each a blessing to me. May the Lord bless you and keep you, cause His face to shine upon you, and give you peace.
