I have spent a lot of time with my journal, tucked snugly underneath the corner of my bed mattress. I have grown tired of being the tragic story on here. The day before Mother's Day, May 10th, we lost my Gram. For those of you who have known me over the years, you know what an influence she was on my life. I thought that would be the hardest obstacle to face, but as it turns out, I've lost my entire family. Other than two of my 3 cousins. They appear to be wanting to operate beyond the law at my moms expense, and when called on it, it seems they didn't like it very well. I have heard words of hate I have never heard before. I'm certainly hopeful that what doesn't kill me, will end up making me stronger. Like I said, I don't want to be the tragic story here anymore.
Good news? Well, two things really...one, I got to spend the evening with my goddaughter, whom I just love and love to hug on. She's quite the little happy maker, and two, my sweetheart has a birthday this week, and I love an excuse to make him smile. He's one of the greatest people I've ever known...and he and his family has opened up their heart to me in a wonderfully warming way. The hardest part about his birthday, is me begging him to let him tell him what he's getting. I talked him into letting me tell him two...but the rest, will be a complete surprise. For that, I'm very excited for Thursday. Even if his movie choice has a picture of a sheep with a human foot in its mouth. His birthday, his rules.
It's after 3 am...and I'm watching the ceiling fan spin and can't wait until the weekend when I can vacuum again. These are my pleasures now, so deal with it. My sweet Dyson has made the experience one that I love. And guess what else, I get to shampoo the carpets this weekend. I'm nesting, you see...getting ready to be gone for a surgery the first of august. They are going to try and fix my heart. Here's hoping they can find the thing. I think I may have given it away.
I hope you all find yourself a big reason to smile today. Not just because you see a dolphin making jumps in the ocean...but because one of your friends falls flat on their face on the pavement, while stone cold sober, gets drunk, and then wants to make up an exotic story about the shiner.
