Well, time off always goes by too quickly. When I called in this morning at 8am and they didn't immediately have a reload for me I knew that was going to be trouble. Generally that means getting a brokered load from folks who are not my company's ordinary customers. So I'll be making a pickup tonight at 8pm in eastern Connecticut and it'll be due in Cleveland at noon on Tuesday. There's really no good or legal way to break up the trip into two chunks and get a decent night's sleep. I'll be driving a good portion of the night one way or another unfortunately. Yuck, I prefer being solar powered and working during the day and sleeping at night like "ordinary" people. Working an odd shift isn't really that bad when it is a routine... but when you just toss an overnighter in the middle of normally working days it really fucks with your system.
Oh well.
Gonna veg out at home most of the day and try to make the best of it.
Saw my new neice. Makes me introspect a bit and realize I couldn't possibly do this kind of work if I had kids of my own. Some people do... but what kind of parenting can you really do when you're away from home so much? More reasons for me to not have children perhaps.

It's funny, a few of my firends have had kids recently and I find myself wondering if I could continue to do the work I do and raise a family. It's pretty wierd to think that something I want to have will eventually cause me to leave something I've worked hard at and really enjoy.
