ONE DAY IN JUNE 2006
I remember carrying big buckets of water from the flooded backroom, through the front door and dumping them in the gutter.
ONE NIGHT IN JULY 2006
I got to DJ another 80's night with Jahsonic. There was a good crowd, and i got to wear this outfit at the end of the night, after much tequila-charged spinning. Sometimes I'll do anything for attention. Tequila was the poison of the month of July, for better or worse. Um, definitely worse. I'm still finding pieces of glass on the floor. Oh, and for three days i couldn't log onto SG due to some glitchiness, yes i had withdrawl symptoms, it wasn't very pretty or flattering.
I'll do anything to get you to love me.
We also got to DJ a Bastille Day party. It was outside, by this lake:
I'd never been around so many French people, they were fun!
Last week i subbed at the sushi restaurant i used to spin at a few years ago, and that was actually fun, too. even though there were technical difficulties and emogoddess managed to knock the needle off the record!
SO I SAW THESE SHOWS:
Hank Williams III: Obrien left way too early and missed a slammin' country set. This has led me to playing Marty Robbins and Hank Williams Sr. records. and for faux country:
Peaches/Eagles of Death Metal: this was pretty devastating.
Built To Spill: I managed to catch 2 shows and while they were great, i remember being mildly upset that the shows didn't have drastically different set lists. It's true, i do like the Grateful Dead.
Slayer/Lamb of God/Children of Bodom/Mastadon: I managed not to get killed. I hadn't been to a metal show in a long time and i was kinda overwhelmed. Caught a ride back home with some friends i hadn't seen in a while.
My radio show....why aren't you guys listening? is it because it's on Sundays from noon to 2, mountain standard time? or is it that i don't pimp it hard enough? i remember getting 2 back-to-back calls, the first caller condemning The Clash's "Police and Theives" as terrible junk, the next caller asking what that song was with the great bass line. One man's treasure is another man's trash, i guess. Anyways, it's here!. Just click "netcast". And if you go to here you can look at past playlists. Then you can decide if the show is your cup of tea or whether you'd like to pour a cup of coffee down my pants. Either way, a splendid time is guaranteed for all!
so how's your summer been?
