Lunch with the Eskimo girl today. I never know when she'll show up, but we always have a nice time. We walked a few blocks to a little cafe and had sandwiches. She is retired at age 43,(as of this week) but she figures shell have to go back to work again. She was thinking of applying for another job. But I reminded her how long all she could talk about was quitting.
She wants to write a memoir.
It's going to be a good one. Her writing is always right on the edge, sharply honest, full disclosure. It's why every guy she knows is pretty much in love with her.
But I think I can finally say I'm not. which makes things a little more comfortable between us.
Not that she's not lovable. But she enjoys living her way. That's a big part of what makes her lovable. It took me a while to get used to that. That she could love me but not fall in love. That she still does but the sex part of it all is over.
Some of the conversations we've had have been like having my skin peeled by angels using fishhooks. bittersweet is the word I'm looking for.
But today it was just sweet. She told me I'd be in part 3 of the memoir.
