Today I turn 25. Makes me realize im just now half way to 50. but last night i gathered (successfully which is a miracle within itself) my close inner circle of friends consisting of 7. Though i did invite a handful of others, they just couldnt make it. We went to the nearest outback steakhouse cause its been a decent amount of time since i had a decent meaty meal. Our server was literally the best. Couldn't of picked a better personality for our odd group. Much laughter and jokes were had, mostly about how i was 14 (looking). Food was eaten, bill was paid, i threw in an extra $20 because of how perfect our server was. I kinda wish i caught and stored her name in my cerebral cortex.
Now this is enough for me to consider this the best b-day party ive ever had, hands down period! They mostly lack. But a surprised awaited.
We dropped off my friend Nicky at her house and travelled back to what i call "the house".
side story: the house is where my best and only retained friend from highschool, Alex lives. three guys who all have once worked for bestbuy at one point. Very techy group. its sorta my getaway spot. I grew to consider his roomies good friends of mine.
Anyways, We get back to "the house". More jokes and laughter ensue. Then as in the back of my mind thinks the night is about to wind down, Matt, who can be an asshole/dick about stuff, raises his voice and tells me to sit in the living room and "Don't move or else!". Granted i like to plays games so i just chaulk this up to humor and go along with it. What happened next really astounded me. Like REALLY!.
They brought out a homemade cake, not just any cake.... but a cake with CANDLES!!!!! Fucking Candles. Words were lost. I didnt know what to do. Next thing i knew they were yelling at me to blow them out. I followed directions. lol trick candles. Still won and got them out. Message of appreciation of my existence was had. More jokes, cake eating, discussion if they/who really made the cake. (taylor matt's girlfriend whos relatively new to the gang by less than year or so and Alex's finally unfriendzoned friend Brittany had.) Granted though it was a group effort. Shaun, the owner of the residence provided the applicants cause hes all not that great at cooking yet. (military tech geek vegan who is now omnivorous)
Its so perfect to realize the greatest of people you surround yourself with and term as friends. You dont even realize this shit until it really hits you and opens your eyes. Something i try and do with every opportunity i have.
This quarter century is for my friends!
