I threw this at my year 10s today. I think it rings true now just as much as when Disraeli was alive. A case in point would, ironically enough, be education, which is increasingly predicated on exam success rather than the wider moral, social and intellectual development of young people.
Anyhoo, I've asked them for a written response to it for a week tomorrow. (A 'To what extent do you agree...' kind of question.) I'll let you know how they get on... :D
