Right, so you guys know how I've been applying to work overseas? Well I've applied for that job in Kosovo three times now, the final time being yesterday. Sunday. Because I say it's a new day when the sun rises, and it's 1AM here. Anyway, I got an email today saying that they want me for the job, and I'm pretty fucking stoked. I've still...

OMG - congrats!! That's a short notice indeed, I hope you manage to sort everything out by then.
jedoro:
Thanks! I've been sending in a few more papers they've asked for, but it's still not set in stone for whatever reason. But I figure at this point they'd tell me if I wasn't getting it, so I'm still optimistic. I don't have much to sort out, I just want to give my current job two weeks' notice if I can.

Well, there's nothing new in general in life, so I'll just talk about an adventure run I did yesterday. It's called the Hometown Hero Run, and it was a 4-mile course through the woods with some obstacles thrown in to mix it up. I'd planned on running it with my sister, but she twisted her ankle a while back and is still recovering, so I...

Two weeks ago I started working out again, because I realized that if I get one of these security contractor jobs I've been applying for, I'll need to be fit for combat, since it'd be a very real possibility. It started out worse than I thought it would be, but it's quickly gotten better. When I first hit the gym, my arms were so sore...

I admire you, I really do. I always tell myself I'll start working out, and then I never do. My body is naturally very athletic, but I know the day will come when I'll have to start sweating to keep my stomach flat. Not looking forward to it...

I'm very sceptical when it comes to astrology, religion, or any other kind of belief that is based on things that cannot be measured.
jedoro:
@arroia I've had several stints of working out and not, but I think I'll finally stick with it because it'll be my livelihood, and my fitness could literally be the difference between life and death for me.

Unlike against a static paper target, a missed shot still has an effect on an enemy human being. Well, didn't get the job in Kosovo. I checked last week and the opening wasn't posted on the company's site anymore, and since they haven't gotten in touch with me, it's a safe bet that the job went to someone else. It's whatever, I've no doubt there...

arroia:
Damn, sorry you didn't get the job. But there are plenty others to apply for, right?

I also rarely see my friends, but that's because we're all working crazy hours and it's hard to find time to get together. I guess it sucks either way. Heck, being a responsible adult sucks in general when it comes to those things.
jedoro:
Plenty, yes, but a lot of them want military experience, and all I've got is private security experience. It's enough to apply for a few of the openings I find, but most are closed to me. I actually found another to apply for over this weekend, and while it's unfortunate what's happening in Ukraine, I might be able to find work out there if things escalate. Maybe. I'm not sure how much security contracting goes on in conflicts between nations. Man, we were just in too much of a hurry to grow up. It's got its perks and its freedoms, but those aren't without responsibilities, as we've found out.

Everything is falling apart."

So, no wrecks this week, and because it wasn't my fault, my bosses don't really care that it happened. Though a few guys are making jokes about my driving now, but that's just how it goes. I like my job well enough, but I'm still looking to work overseas, so this weekend I reapplied for a security job in Europe. Kosovo,...

It's hard to find anything about Kosovo in the news nowadays, so I'm guessing things aren't as hectic. It makes me so worried that the whole region will explode in another fit of war sometime in the future. My family lives too close for comfort. What kind of security will you be doing if you get the job?

I think that's a tremendous change and something to be very proud of. I was never a quiet person, so it's hard for me to completely understand the effort and inner fights you had to go through, but you've got huge kudos from me. Keep it up! :)
jedoro:
Nope, things in Kosovo are pretty calm, but there are enough concerns about that calm that the US has a small force stationed there. I'd be doing armed security for that force, escorting visitors and preventing any intrusions. I was a pretty outgoing kid, and my best friend's mom told me that she wished I'd calm down. She felt bad when she got her wish, but we kinda joke about it now since it wasn't her fault in any way. I will, thanks. It's an uphill battle, since most of my memory is of me as a quiet person, but I'm working on it.

Friday night at work was pretty stupid. I'm driving my work truck, a large 30ft straight truck, into the Federal Reserve by making a right turn, on a one-lane street. Well some genius decides that he's going to try to pass me ON THE RIGHT while I'm turning. Another guy sees him and motions for me to stop, so I do, but by this time...

I can't drive, but I'm horribly irritated by drivers like that moron. As a passenger I always watch the traffic, and I wonder how half those people got a driving licence. Maybe if we all drove around in tanks the roads would be safer...
jedoro:
I vote that you take an advanced driver's license test, and if you pass you get to drive a tank. That way idiots ruin their cars hitting you, while you just paint over the scratch.

So, I'm sure a lot of Americans are aware of that winter storm that kinda fucked up Atlanta earlier this week. Well, my job is driving down there and back every day, which means I got stuck in that storm. We finally came to a halt at about 5pm Tuesday afternoon, and didn't move until about 10am Wednesday morning. The road wasn't even clear for...

This past week, work's been going much better than it usually does. Even with a few problems, all week we've gotten our route done earlier than usual. I'd like to go on record and state that moving thousands of pounds of nickels is a pain in the ass, even with an electric power jack. Using a manual one is just hell. Unfortunately, things around the...

I'm never too sure where to start anything blog-like, so I guess we'll go chronologically. My brother and his family came into town Tuesday, but I had worked Monday night and had to work Tuesday, so I didn't get to see him until after my shift was over. And of course, nothing ever goes perfectly, so we had to stay an hour later than we...

Right, now that I'm all situated on the new site, maybe I should post something on my own page. Well, it's my 23rd birthday today, but I need the money, so I'm still going to work instead of calling out and sitting on my ass in my apartment. I'm at least treating myself to some steak all day, so it'll be a slightly better day...
