Ah, a new year, all fresh and dewy.

Admittedly, my new year didn't start out like most people's. I opted to cover for a guy at the community centre, meaning I got to be the responsible one running the facility so two other parties could go til the wee hours. Fortunately for me, they were both pretty good groups: one was a bunch of families, so they were pretty tame and even let me eat from their buffet table; while the other was expecting a big turnout but only got about a dozen people as far as I could tell, despite having the largest sound system I've seen in there. Both left early and were easy clean-ups, so I was done by 3:30am. No drinking, no partying, no midnight kissing. The plan is I'll make that up over the rest of the year. With interest.

I'm all resolute to post more, which is cliche, but I'm backing it up with intention, and by intention I mean consumer binging, which is something I almost never do. (Working through holidays does have its perks.) For instance, I'm currenly typing this up at danny_g's on my brand new laptop, which is probably the biggest purchase I've made that wasn't working toward a degree. My hope is now I can obsessively stare at my computer while sipping a London Fog at Higher Ground and surrounded by pretty people with the potential for interacting with them, instead of doing the same thing sans Fog in my poorly insulated room. Upshot is more socializing and more opportunities to write, with possibly more things to write about.

It'll take me a bit to figure out the new rhythm of this plan. More later. Meanwhile, Happy New Year!
