The tiny god lives again!
My computer's back up, after another $100 of Technical Loving Care, and seems to run okay but still bogs down if I try to play Civilization IV. (Dammit, people, it's a turn-based game - it shouldn't have to be that demanding! End microrant.) Time to sing the geek's perennial "More RAM" song. Coincidentally, a guy at work got sick and I've probably made over $200 covering for him. The universe provides.
For those stalking me, I heard back from both auditions and turned up zero on both counts. They did both encourage me to come out for future stuff, though, in such a way that it almost didn't sound like boilerplate, so I'm a little encouraged. Having Salome already certainly takes the edge off; I'm just waiting for rehearsals to start. Hmm, maybe I should start getting off-book.
This week's been busy - those extra shifts had me working every night from Thurs-Sun, which kinda fubarred my weekend, since didn't have a lot of notice in most cases (Friday I found out 3 hours in advance). I can't bitch too loud, since as I've mentioned my schedule's pretty open and I had uses for the money, but I like to have a little time so I can plan out how things will go and then watch as the universe laughs and shows me what's REALLY supposed to happen.
Some things I made work. Saturday morning I managed to drag myself out of bed, get up to the university and do a 5-hour contact improvisation workshop. Sequence was basically work til midnight Friday, up at 8 Saturday, get to U, dance dance dance Lunch dance dance and back to work for 10 hours. Been months since I've done that and I can still feel it in my back but it was sooo goood. I have to start hosting jams for donations again. If I'd been on the ball (and more consistently net-worthy) I would have posted this in events or something and seen if any of you (yes you) might have been interested. They still do a monthly that I keep working through, but I may still post it. I think CI would be awesome for SG. (Actually, I think every human being should try it once, but that's me.)
Today is officially my day off. I hope to seriously launder and laughably organize my room (don't know how with all this internet in the middle of it distracting me). The week ahead is already coming together quickly - I seem to have something doing everyday, which is unusual, including some fresh things.
Of particular interest is Wednesday, with 2 things that are new. One is Karma Yoga. Not actually a yoga form, it's a hatha yoga class they do for dirt-cheap/donation (minimum $4) and it's moved to a time I'm not busy, so I can start moving on a regular basis before I take root. The other is more experimental - I got sucked in by all the flyers posted around Kensington for one of those speed-dating services, so I'm going to give it a try. This one's supposed to be around 2 dozen people you meet for 3 minutes each. I'll attempt to keep you posted.
