I bought myself a present on Saturday:
For the one person who cares, it's a 1973 Honda CB 750K3 with a 1977 F1 engine and transmission. The engine was meticulously rebuilt, and has the 836cc big-bore kit with Wiseco pistons, an RC street cam, Cometic racing clutch, and all new seals and o-rings. The transmission is essentially new too.
Starting on Monday, I'm having the new front suspension from my old CB installed on this bike, a bracket for the muffler and passenger foot peg fabricated, and the front brake rebuilt. The tank is being replaced with one that has the proper metal Honda decals, and both it and the new side covers are being painted white to complement the black and red engine.
The best part is, that a week from Monday, after a careful break-in of the engine, I'm going to ride that bike to Vancouver, Seattle and Cortez Island.
Riding bikes is almost always fun, but riding a new-vintage bike through the mountains and along the coast in the fall will be the purest joy.
I'm going to see some beautiful people on this trip, including four of my favorite SG's. I'll post more about the trip while I'm on it, and perhaps I'll meet a few new SG friends on the way. peace, j.
