Going to Arizona in the morning. Will be visiting my parents. It's my dad's 68th birthday on Saturday. My mom asked that my siblings and I show up for his birthday. It's not so bad for my sister and brother going from California, but kind of shitter for me from Alaska. A long time spent in the aeroplane for so little face time. Probably doesn't help that I'm spending the first night visiting with a friend who's driving down from Phoenix. She flies out the next morning, back to Tahoe, so it will be good to see her. It's been a couple of years.

My sister is bringing her husband. I guess LRon gave them some time off.

My brother will be bringing his girlfriend.

Joked with my parents last time I saw them that I could start hiring escorts to bring with me so they won't feel like I'm wasting my life by staying single.

Oh well.

Hopefully I'll have some time between the time that I get back and when I go back down to AZ for Christmas to get some artsy shit done. I've played with the new scanner a bit but haven't tested it to find its limits.

Art class is awesome. We're starting on the body. We've spent the past few classes learning different styles of drawing, all using photos from magazines. Supposedly we'll be doing portraits the next two classes, then wooden models, then clothed models, then possibly a nude model for the last couple of classes. I'm psyched. I really enjoy working with charcoal, graphite powder and smudge/erase styles of drawing.
