Fell #8 (image)
This serves up single-issue mystery stories as dark as you like it, and it's quite often emotionally poignant, too. In a depressing, nihilistic sort of way. It's also the cheapest comic on the racks, by at least a dollar these days. That's because each issue is only sixteen pages long, but since its all done in old-school...

This week's Invincible kicked my ass. I can't get enough of that comic. Thanks for making me read it by ripping the shrink wrap from our in store copy and physically placing it infront of me on top of the other thing I was reading that moment. You're the best - my sweetie.
noisemx:
Of these books, I only read Fell and I agree with you that it is a great book and everyone should pick it up. Quality stories from a modern comic legend Warren Ellis, art by the stylized but great Ben Templesmith, and a cover price that should allow everyone to pick it up! I am only up to seven as eight has not yet arrived...waiting is the worst part about ordering your comics from a mailorder discount distributer.

COMIC REVIEWS for 4-11-07

This week I read my usual titles and quite a few others. Each week I am going to try to read at least a few that I haven't reviewed before, so that I can avoid resorting to spoiler-filled issue summaries. These are all transplanted from my myspace blog.

All-Star Superman #7 (dc) *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*
Doesn't get much crazier than Grant Morrison...

Fables is great, and I'm ashamed to say I don't pick it up as often as I should.

And if I'm not mistaken, I think the new Justice League starts the JLA/JSA crossover.

I try to pick up every B.P.R.D. book and now this year and next they plan to keep us in good supply. I feel that the B.P.R.D. stories have been getting better as the time passes, I just absolutely loved Universal Machine and now this story will expand more on Abe Sapien the charcter shrouded the most in mystery. Couldn't possibly be bad.

Fables is a constant buy for me and will be unless something terrible happens to Willingham. As you say that Fables is the new Sandman and would appeal to it's readers, you are dead on. I was given issues 1-3 for a christmas present a few years back and it was that very reason that they were chosen for me, my love of Sandman and Vertigo comics in general. I was not disappointed and went out and tracked down the other twenty issue. That is what brought me back into comics actually, after being a steady comic reader for years and then getting fed up with comics in the nineties, I left for several years and only came back once this book was put in my hands.

Comic Picks for 4-11-07

Here's a copy-n-paste of the latest entry from my comics blog on myspace. It was my plan to do comic reviews tonight but I really don't feel like seeing the sunrise. Reviews coming soon, then.

And so begins my new era of (relatively) conservative comic buying! I am now attempting to buy only the comics I can't wait to read. I...

I'd really like to get other SG comics group members to start using thier blogs to review the comics they are buying, and so I will start it off by re-posting mine from my myspace blog. This here is two week's worth of reviews for the new releases I have read. I didn't review everything I bought but I just didn't have anything to...

DMZ is not over with (thank god). When it originally launched, it was solicited as a new ongoing title that had no planned end issue number. Here is the DC/Vertigo page that has covers and summaries up to issue #20. I will try to do something with my blog as well. The last blog I posted was a Pirates of Coney Island blog, but I can work on a nother one for Morrison's The Filth, which I just finished reading.

Holy christ I am up late blogging. Yep, starting this one at 5:00 am after typing up lots of reviews on my comics blog. It was all very slow going since I frequently had to commit a hand to the purring amorphous blob of a cat in my lap. He makes sure I know it if I'm not petting him enough. I will surely keep...

If your lady friend, Is wanting to get on the next step to being a SG, I can't recommend joining the SG Hopefuls group enough, if she has any questions, you can guarantee someone has asked it there before. It helped me loads.
