Gilmore Girls.
That's right I said it, Gilmore Girls, I dig that show, and it's not about the hot chicks, because really I'm not all that attracted to either of the girls. What I like is that mostly the show if fun, fast, and that it values the same things that I do... Life, wit, brains, pop culture, quirkiness and above all living your own way....
I like the fast talking coffee addicted pace, I like that they talk about movies that are old, and music, and that they don't have caricatures of types of people. The obnoxious christian characters have more depth than to just run around and shout about the devil and all of that. There is a genuine sweetness and charm to the show that I like......
The Shield, speaking of avoiding the clich charters of TV the Shield is the best cop show currently on. It's tough, it's ballsy, it's tells the story of complex people dealing with human madness and trying to hold on to their souls and their lives. Michael Chicklas is a revelation as the toughest cop ever on TV, and he's not really a bad guy, he isn't evil, he's just doing the job the way that he thinks is best. CCH Pounder is the other revelation of the show, she's always been a smart tough actress who now is getting the chance to show what she's made of. There is something about they way she carries herself and the way she is so silent on so many things that just makes her even more of a danger to the people playing games around her. One thing that is obvious about the characters is that all of them believe in doing the job and making a better world, it's the means that are in conflict in the show.
Samurai Jack... lastly, the most amazing cartoon adventure ever. It's got style a design that others only dream of, the look and feel of the show is soooo far above and beyond what you will find elsewhere. Someday it will be looked back upon as one of the most important cartoon shows created. Just watch and episode and I dare you not to smile...
notes:
More TV: Hum.. I'm getting the coupling season 3 DVD soon, and I think it will be time to talk about the great brit-coms (The Office) that have been imported as of late.
Music: DTK/MC3 this weekend... If I make it there I'll say something about it in the next entry.

I watch the Gillmore girls with my fiance' (JuneCleavage) and her daughter every week...they actually had moved back to her hometown and had to endure being strange in a rich little town....and Samurai Jack kicks ass in my book...hoping the dvd rolls my way for father's day.....yeah, as far as the Von Bondies and all those new wave garage bands --I take it with a grain of salt--I mean really-I am big fan of Billy Childish--but outta the 450 or so releases have they all kicked ass --fuck no-I just get sick of people trashing bands cause the white stripes so not think they are cool ....at least the Von Bondies are not out producing Reba Macentire's next long play.....I have tons of proto-punk/garage/lo-fi rawk maybe we should make a few interesting mixes and swap them out....later brother
