In this day and age of sub-genre and cross culture music, I reflect back at my youth and am thankful for the exposure to traditional Irish music I received. Last night I saw a musician that was my introduction into live Irish music many decades ago. You know, back in the day it was ok to have your kid in a bar late at night. All these years later, and following both traditional and genre music, I fond that I am still in love with the foundation of Celtic punk. In some cases more than the anger fueled modern interpretations. I like angry. Really I do, I'm very good at angry, but the honor and pride put forth by those traditional artists carries a power that has to be felt. To all those people out there that live their lifestyle of rebellion, remember that there are those that came before that paved the way for your angst. And for the most part, they didn't have tattoos or mohawks.
