I have had a whirlwind weekend of audible assaults this last weekend. From the 20th anniversary of the Dropkick Murphys in my home town to a 3 1/2 hour drive to see the Black Sabbath "The End" tour the next day. Very tiring but well, WELL worth the effort and expense. I hope everyone out there is immersing themselves in good music as well.

I was having this internal debate about what makes a good bad guy. After much thought (to much maybe) I am casting my vote for the Kurgen from The Highlander. Seriously evil, menacing and an all around bad ass. There is my choice, lets see who everyone else comes up with.

Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds. Christoph Waltz is such a superb actor who happens to be a great villain in most any role, in my opinion.

Ok, this should go without saying BUT..... I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season no matter what your religious and political beliefs are. For a couple of weeks can we put aside the petty ( and not so petty) conflicts that exist currently and jut be humans for once? That is my "Holiday" wish. And this is coming from a surly old...

In this day and age of sub-genre and cross culture music, I reflect back at my youth and am thankful for the exposure to traditional Irish music I received. Last night I saw a musician that was my introduction into live Irish music many decades ago. You know, back in the day it was ok to have your kid in a bar late at night....

Not sure if everyone out there will get this, but we all get songs stuck in our collectives heads that won't go away no matter what we do to extradite them. So, for good or bad, what song is stuck in your heads right now? I'll start.

The Clash "Bankrobber"

Oh the horrors of having an impending deadline of a major piece of research and repeatedly running into HUGE walls of non-creativity. Can it really be that important? Hell, its only a masters thesis.......

Just in case you were curious at all.... The final revision for the thesis has been submitted. Now I have to sit around and stress about it until mid January.

Finally recovering from this years Rock on the Range. Two days of music from some of the heaviest hitters in the metal world; Megadeth, Marylin Manson, Rob Zombie, Slash, Anthrax, Lacuna Coil and Volbeat just to name a few of the biggest names. Loud and proud, looking forward to next years show already.

At some point in time, a guy just has to admit it is time to cut off his incredibly long hair to salvage his dignity and remaining hair line. Oh woe is me.

Step by step, closer to what people view as a milestone in life; a Masters Degree. A milestone in the eyes of others is actually a major event to someone like me who never even thought he/she would have a BA. The only thing standing between my goal and myslef in this semester of 2 seemingly easy courses and then a thesis paper.... Only a...

Another wonderful January in Cleveland. Snow blanketing the land and not a whole lot of drive to do anything productive. Looking forward to another semester of grad school and a blitzkrieg of concerts. If anything, Clevelanders can always look forward to a barrage of music of all kinds. Oh well, back to the grind and hopefully something prolific.

Sounds super rad!

Yeah, the show just reminded me that Lemmy is God. Over 90 minutes of nonstop-earsplitting mental assault. Now I am looking forward to doing it again and again with the barrage of shows coming to our dear old Cleveland.
