Excerpt from my Alaskan Cycle tour
June 29th
This was the third day with heavy winds. Today was by far the worst. We have made it quite close to Grande Prairie so the terrain is easy, but we have been unable to pick up any speed. We only managed 50km before I decided to take us off the road. I am worried for Steven, he insists that his knees are okay when asked but he will turn around and complain of pains and is constantly messaging his thighs with the MSR fuel bottle. We will brake in GP and hopefully that will help.
Tonight we are camped left of the bridge that crosses Smokey River just 40 km from GP. It is quite a beautiful site but has a lot of traffic. The river is clean and quite scenic. We are surrounding by large leafy trees and great big cliffs along the river bank. It also means we have a large climb out of the valley tomorrow, but I'll worry about that tomorrow.
My kilometer count is just past 450.
