Excerpt from the Alaskan Cycle Tour:

June 30th

Today was mixed in all aspects. We awake early this morning and were surprised to find out that there was no wind. So we set out to take early hoping to take advantage of the wind. I probably started the day off on the wrong foot though. I found myself quickly becoming quite mad at Steven ....

Excerpt from my Alaskan Cycle tour

June 29th

This was the third day with heavy winds. Today was by far the worst. We have made it quite close to Grande Prairie so the terrain is easy, but we have been unable to pick up any speed. We only managed 50km before I decided to take us off the road. I am worried for Steven, he...

July 28th 2009

Today was another windy day. We were a little more adjusted to deal with it this time though. Still it is a bit frustrating having to stay in low gear to go DOWN a hill.

On a funny note the wind apparently blew over Stevens parents gazebo.

Steven is starting a self inventory of his personal...

Shypan? You weren't very shy on the weekend.

Where do you go to school? What are you studying?

Glad I made the cut for friend requests. But I should warn you - I sometimes disappear for periods of time. Well, to be honest, I still login everyday, but I go through periods of not talking much online. Just don't think I've disappeared for good.

we have Oh Henrys, but not very often,

do you have Moon pies?

We are now just outside of Little Smokey. The mosquito presence here is substantial.

The weather today was excellent. We may have even had a small tail wind at one point. Unfortunately, the last few days seem to have run their toll on Steven. His knees are hurting him. I guess I wasn't the only...

Hi there!

It was great meeting you. Hope you had a good time at the gala and brunch.

When I got home last night, I looked for you on the guest list but couldn't find you on it. I must be blind. But I actually remember how to spell your username. I was going to request friendship, but it looked like maybe you were very picky about who you add as friends, so I was scared to. Yes, I'm a dork that way.

Thanks for adding me!

I think I just hit some nettle with my shin. It has that burning itchy sensation that only nettle seems to create.

I am in my hammock now. Earlier I was outside helping Steven hang food. We are just past the city of Whitecourt next to Chickadee Creek, at the section of the highway where...

Exert from my Alaskan bike trip journal

June 25th 2009
Distance 117 km
Time 8 h 45min
Weather- generally epic

The first day is done and we have made it to the town of Mayerthorpe. It has been a bit of a hard go. The highways proved to be quite hilly and we encountered a strong head wind for most of the day. Without the...

June 22

Today I found out that it is actually the 22nd thanks to a conversation that involved myself, Steven, a waitress and the table beside me.

Following work I met up with Steven to get materials for the trip at MEC. Afterwards we had a delicious lunch/dinner across the street at a burger bar. We parted ways...

Interesting new thing I learned. Apparently if online popularity is your goal, a British study suggest that quantity trumps quality.

http://www.bps.org.uk/media-centre/press-releases/releases$/annual-conference-2010$/quantity-not-quality-key-to-online-popularity.cfm

They compared word count, tone and subject towards peoples opinions of the individuals and found it the number of words correlated the most closely with their popularity.

Neat but before I anyone takes this as a sign to become a human spam bot please...

I am truly enjoying this having roommates deal. Back home it was neither necessary nor affordable to move out of the parents house for my undergrad so I missed out. But here in London I get to experience all the perks with maybe a bit more maturity. I am after all not an undergrad anymore.

Last friday we dragged a grabage can designed to look...
