You know, I've been thinking about it for a while and I believe we as a society look at sex work the wrong way. Society still holds onto these antiquated notions that sex work is a last resort, a form of scraping the bottom of the barrel, something only 'fallen women' do. And I think it's these toxic ideas that keep women from fully enjoying themselves in their chosen professions as well as keeping the billion dollar illegal trade of human trafficking going.
Because of stigma, sex workers tend to be looked down upon or simply ignored. If a prostitute or stripper is abused or raped, it's her own fault and rarely is the case looked into. (This also has to do with the misplaced value society places on virginity or 'purity' in women.)
If sex work was viewed simply as any other job is, as merely work and a means to an end, I think most of the seedier and underhanded aspects of the trade would disappear. Legalize prostitution and abusive pimps will go the way of the dodo. Bring sex work above ground and the rate of human trafficking would lessen.
Because sex work is just that. A job. It's a job like any other job. It's got its positives and it's got its negatives. It's work that I happen to thoroughly enjoy, even with the negative aspects that I experience.
Also, sex workers should totally unionize.
Anyway, that's just something I've been thinking about.
As for my WCW.....(drumroll please)
I know she's been my WCW before, but I can't help being positively enamored with @ameline. She's just the best.
Also, I'm debating posting my mug shot from jail. You know, for shits and giggles. What do you all say?
