I work with kids, and in the summer time I get to play lots of sports. A few weeks ago I got nailed in the nose while pitching a home-run derby softball game. It just stunned me, not much blood or any significant damage, but ever since then I haven't been able to make a single play in the field. I could be shagging a slow-rolling ball to deep center and I'll pick my glove up at the last second. I don't mean to, but it seems my subconscious thinks I'll pop the ball right back into my face again.
It's funny how the stupidest shit can shed such profound light on one's life.
