well, i dont know. i applied and sent them my transcripts from american schools, but i had a 4.0 grade point average. i had to attend an interview which turned out to be just an informal chat with the head of the art/archaeology department because he liked meeting people that he thought was interesting. surreal so i felt good about that. biggrin and i asked him if i would be accepted on the course and he laughed and said of course. blush

oh! how lucky! i never get hatemail! tongue

I went to visit my Uncle Stanley this weekend in NYC. Stanley has been institutionalized since he was like 10. He's now 76. He lives in a group home for people on welfare. Why he's on welfare is a mystery to me... you'd have to ask my grandmother. But since she, and my grandpa, and even my ma are all dead, I go and visit...

oh.. and your right, no ones mother causes schizophrenia.. it's just that at the time he was diagnosed, it was very common for doctors to loosely use schizophrenia as their diagnosis. Personally, I think he's just a spoiled sex crazed old man tongue

i've been to 2 uni's in the states and i have to say that i could not be happier than i am at the one i am at now. i love it. its the best school, all of my teachers are great, and there are so many resources that i can get my grubby little paws on. its wonderful. and challenging in ways that the schools in america are not.

sorry that you are feeling guilt about stanley. you do have to live your life though and no matter what you did, you'd always be able to say 'i should do this better' or something like that. guilt is a part of life, unfortunately. and unfortunately, not everyone gets the best life and they do have to sit around in 'homes' and wait for those special occassions. i wish that didn't have to happen to anyone. maybe you could give him an extra surprize visit every now and again. or slap those other neglectful family members!

I'll read your journal! I like alyk too. She boosts my confidence by having conversations with liger in my journal, thus inflating my comment count. Even though I know it's all non-cash income [like intercompany sales] it still inspires me to write good entries.

Seen in today's canadian news, following a last-ditch plea for a continuation of the minority government:

"One Liberal MP noted the Prime Minister's choice of a soft brown suit and tie provided a warm, fuzzy image. He contrasted that with the much starker Bay Street blue of Stephen Harper."

and then,

"...the only lectern belonging to the National Press Gallery is nailed to the floor...

that is bad news, but hopefully it will all work out OK.

One does, of course, run into conservatives all over SG, but they're in the minority - I think that's what makes so many of them sarcastic, superior and defensive. I mean, they've probably been mocked and made fun of since the day they started posting, often by people funnier and smarter than they. so I'm really not surprised when they dish it back. On the other hand, for people to start making value-judgment laden replies to some of your first posts in a new group could not have felt very good either.

the canadians are ganging up on me on the canadian politics group! oh-no! shocked
they somehow think they're are going to get good, honest, hard-left government from their leaders. good luck! they should take a look at us and appreciate how good they've got it. (I'm ducking for cover now... flail away, you starry-eyed canucks!)

on a worse note, trevor (our cat) is even sicker than...
