did you get my email from a few minutes ago?

I'll read your journal! I like alyk too. She boosts my confidence by having conversations with liger in my journal, thus inflating my comment count. Even though I know it's all non-cash income [like intercompany sales] it still inspires me to write good entries.

Seen in today's canadian news, following a last-ditch plea for a continuation of the minority government:

"One Liberal MP noted the Prime Minister's choice of a soft brown suit and tie provided a warm, fuzzy image. He contrasted that with the much starker Bay Street blue of Stephen Harper."

and then,

"...the only lectern belonging to the National Press Gallery is nailed to the floor...

Hey, talk about cool... a journalist from the LA Times just called me looking for quotes on the recent prevalence of pie-throwing environmental protests! I gave him a good one, and I think they're going to run it!

that is bad news, but hopefully it will all work out OK.

One does, of course, run into conservatives all over SG, but they're in the minority - I think that's what makes so many of them sarcastic, superior and defensive. I mean, they've probably been mocked and made fun of since the day they started posting, often by people funnier and smarter than they. so I'm really not surprised when they dish it back. On the other hand, for people to start making value-judgment laden replies to some of your first posts in a new group could not have felt very good either.

the canadians are ganging up on me on the canadian politics group! oh-no! shocked
they somehow think they're are going to get good, honest, hard-left government from their leaders. good luck! they should take a look at us and appreciate how good they've got it. (I'm ducking for cover now... flail away, you starry-eyed canucks!)

on a worse note, trevor (our cat) is even sicker than...

Today was the best day ever! God, it was good! (Dog ti saw doog!)

A very lovely (and polluted) river runs through Boston, and I went sailing on it! It was hot, so I took off my coat and threw it in the front part of the boat (forecastle??? shit if i know nautical terminology)... I stayed nice and dry but my coat got soaked!...

not much good happening here... frown
trevor is home but we're now sure he has cancer and heart disease and probably won't be with us long. chemo might prolong his life a few months, so we're considering that, but i'm generally feeling overwhelmed with responsibility for giving him a good death... when a human dies, they can at least contribute to decisions (hopefully). it's completely up...

My partner had a cat that got cancer.. they gave Mickey chemo, and he lived about another year.. then one nite he searched for a place to pass, and did in his sleep. Right in his favorite cardboard box.

Best wishes kiss

Mickey did seem to get his spirits up once treated- but always seemed to be "waiting to pass". Since your spouse is prego.. and chemo is toxic.. it brings another element into your situation confused My partner couldn't bare to put Mickey 'down'- hence the reason he just let him pass naturally.

Trevor, our cat, is back in hospital... they don't know what's wrong with him, but they're absolutely sure it will cost ass-buckets of money to figure out. frown

Here's some news everybody... An article in today's NYTimes says scientists have found the neuro-chemical source of 'trust' -- i.e. feelings of trust are derived from the same place/reaction that governs general sensations of reward... This must explain why SG is so gratifying... fantasy and friendship all in one place! (Imagine the headline: 'Getting off and making new friends found comparable, scientists say...' or 'Stop...
