Aw, shit.
I finally started installing Linux (Debian) on Mom's old 900MHz box. I ran a one-disc installation program that would install the kernel, then download software packages from the Internet. Well, the network isn't working on it now. Shit.
If anyone knows *nix (Zork?), please tell me why, when I run /sbin/ifconfig, it shows me only a port called "lo" which appears to be a loopback only. Did it not recognize the real network card?
Update: Okay, so I re-installed Windows on another partition, and checked DevMgr for my ethernet card. It's a "Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC". I re-installed Debian on hda1, and made sure to select that exact driver (8139too). It's still doing the same thing! Shit!
Okay, I met a girl on Match.com that I REALLY like! She's cute, she's smart, she lives nearby, and we had a really nice conversation on Y messenger the other day. I am so nervous! What does one say to a girl in this kind of situation? It's been a couple days since our chat, so I suppose I should email her, ask her out for dinner, or something. Wow, I am so jittery.
Update Woo hoo!! I just got her phone number!! Her name is Jessica. Ah.... what a beautiful name.... *drifts off*
