Meteorologist Chris Landsea of the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Rita could strengthen to a Category 5 with wind over 155 mph as it moves over the warm waters of the gulf, or it could ease to a Category 3, with wind of less than 130 mph.
In New Orleans, the Army Corps of Engineers raced to patch the citys fractured levee system for fear the additional rain could swamp the walls and flood the city all over again. The Corps said New Orleans levees can only handle up to 6 inches of rain and a storm surge of 10 to 12 feet.

some party pictures of party people:
me giving the ol' F-U. at least i still have a banana tree. it's in the backyard of Rhys' folks' house. i don't know why. but i love them. so i'm happy.
...and some pictures i took of Rhys working on some big fucking circular thing.
and that should about do it for today.
we're going to get the house inspected. let's all keep our fingers crossed that there's nothing terribly wrong. so i can have a place (of my own) to stay a.s.a.p.
love. all.
-Hyena.
bleh. most of the pictures = too big. but they're in my folders, if you really want to see that extra inch or so.
You look kinda like Victoria Abril doing the (shhk!shhk!) iCaracortada! head-move in Kika in that pic.... well, you do, trust me....
They have banana trees in North Carolina?? I thought it'd be too cold... even in New Orleans! But then, I dunno how cold N.O. gets. I know you mentioned hoodies... good news- I can tell you, you will get to wear one soon in NC.
edit ps- If you had to leave hoodies in N.O., tell me. I will totally send you one of mine. I have ridiculous amounts of sweater... and you don't want to wear one with toxic sludge in it.
