i've had a busy last couple of days.
thursday was Rhys' birthday. we went to Smith and Wollensky's, a fancy shmancy steak house.
before we left. Rhys was dismayed at having to put on clothing. really, i have like two pictures of him with a shirt on. this is not one of them. the dogs were dismayed that they did not get to come along.
Rhys and Keating: "Here's to living beyond our means!"
when i got up to take this picture, i fell flat on my ass. for no apparent reason. and i always fall very slowly and sloppily, so i was definitely sprawled out with my legs up in the air in the middle of the fancy resturaunt. Rhys and Keating thought it was fucking hillarious. i was not so sure. proof that you can buy yourself a four star dinner, but you can't buy class.
the food arrives. you can't really see it so well, but Rhys and Keating both got like 32 ounce steaks. i got a 10 ounce filet, and still could not finish it. we got truffled macaroni (yum!) and french fries as sides.
my dessert. when they set it down on the table, Rhys said, "Um, at no time did I see the words "big-ass" in the description of this cake". it was bigger than my head. needless to say, i couldn't eat all of that, either.
then yesterday i went to a BBQ at my friend Mike's new apartment. it was kind of a goodbye party for our friend Ed (who hopefully will be a member soon- i am giving him an SG membership as his "going off to grad school" present).
group shot. nice pool! i had something in my eye, and it hurt a whole lot, so i am making a terrible face and giving the ol' fuck you to the camera. Mike jumped on the FU bandwagon, but without heart. as usual, i am the only girl. but no one really counts me as a girl, anyway. Ed calls me his little brother.
i wish i had the picture Ed took of me before i threw the Pepsi off the balcony. i thought it would float! really! Mike has to jump in and rescue it.
me and Ed. it was very hot and sweaty that night, and i was BBQing, so i was the sweatiest. i wish i would have jumped in the pool.
my first day of work at The Bead Shop was also on Friday. did i mention i get 50% off on beads? basically what i will be doing is making necklaces, earrings, and other bead-related items for customers, doing simple restringing and repair on necklaces and stuff, selling beads, and. um. selling beads. the reason for the 50% discount is that they want me to make my own necklaces and wear them to work, so the customers see examples of what they can make. pretty cool, since i love jewelry. i already have ideas for a necklace and earrings i want to make, but alas, that will have to wait until i get my rent paid. i'm worried i might not have enough shifts- right now i am working four days a week, but i plan to pick up another day. even then i'm not sure it will be enough. they're only paying me $6.50, and i'm not allowed to work more than 40 hours per week. my rent alone is $325! we'll see, though. i start working for real on the 19th, out in Metairie.
well, that's about it. i need to clean the house like nobody's business, so i guess i'll do that today. no fun.
oh, and i promise i'll get caught up on journal-responding and the like. don't feel that i've been neglecting y'all. i'm just a bit preoccupied this week. forgive me?
love.
