Yeah, so i haven't updated in a while. I've been very busy with my thesis, and i have to keep arguing with my thesis advisor over my paper. He wants me to add more "texture" and "depth" to it. Philosophy majors should not ask history professors to advise them for the paper that will determine their ability to graduate. He knows a lot about philosophy, he just thinks my writing should be more like history people write, and i like the way philosophers write. Oh well, three more weeks and then i have my degree and can take a break for a few years before i think about graduate school.
Not to be a dick, but does anyone else not like the new site? I've been on it twice, and i've decided to stick with the old one until i'm forced to switch over. One problem i've had with the old site is that the text is so small it's hard to read; with the new one it's just the opposite: it's so big i have to scroll too much. I'm not too wild about the color, i hate the fact that our journals are now called blogs. This was one of the things that i loved about SG initally, that they were called "journals" instead of "blogs." And i don't like the fact that you can only see the first five of anything unless you actually click "see all."
One of my best friends is coming home for a week in two weeks. He's in the marines, and he's coming home before his last deployment. He's hoping not to go to Iraq since he's already been twice. Maybe Okanawa or Brunei.
I'm still loving the new Tool album. The album is more political than their past albums have been. One thing about Tool is that it is the only band that i want to appreciate. What i mean is that it is the only band that, if i'm not too fond of one of their albums initally, i actually want to develop a taste for it because of how talented the band is and how personal they are with their music. I was thinking about that one day, and then i was reading an interview with them with an Australian magazine, and Danny was saying that they have always been kind of selfish about their music, making it for themselves first and the fans second, and that he thought the fans appreciated that. I just thought it was funny that i realized that about myself right before i read that.
Right now i'm researching espresso machines. I really like coffee, like a lot, but drip just doesn't cut it. The machines are just so expensive and seem to have such variable reviews. For the same machines one person will say it lasted them less than a month, and another person will say they've had it four years, used it almost daily, and have never needed to repair it once. I really want this coffee grinder:
Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowin'
Neither the brave nor bold
Will write us the story so
We won't give pause until the blood is flowin'
I need to watch things die
From a good safe distance
Vicariously, I
Live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same so
Why can't we just admit it?
Blood like rain fallin' down
-Tool, Vicarious
