Listening to a story about Henrietta Lacks and the cancer cells that she had that will not die. The first thing that I saw was in Scientific Americans in '82 or so. It is interesting piece on Fresh Air with Terry Gross.
Thr piece is here to listen to.
I finally put my new track bike together. It is a Planet X Stealth Track bike. It rides well and is very stiff. I am looking forward to racing this but getting my body to work well on it will take lots of work. Yuck! Training. Looks like a good day tomorrow to go for a long ride.
This last Saturday I went to a friend's birthday party. It was the wife of one of my girlfriend's best friends. It was at their house, which is an 19th century mill that was remodeled as a house. It is a great space wit a creek and lots of woods. I spent most of the time chatting with Ben and Lindsey. We had not seen them for a couple of years. So there was a good bit of catching up. I chatted with some of the other folks too but was uncomfortable since I didn't feel that I had that much in common with anybody else there.
GRRR!
It was a pot luck and I brought some kale, which was a hit. I was going to bring sweet potatoes, but we ran out of time. Now I have about 3 pounds of sweet potato to do something with. Sweet Potato Salad comes to mind. Maybe I'll make it tomarrow so we have it for the weekend.
Saturday we may go see BB King and Buddy Guy at the Tabernacle. A girl I work with will sell them to me at a loss (because I can't afford full price) so that they are used. We'll see.
I'm finally tired enough to sleep.
Good night!
