Well, I'm behind on my comments again, so easy to do! I was in a bit of a funk this week, for various reasons, and that adds up to a not very chatty me.

I did see a couple of movies this week though! It's so great to live in a city where I can see the following on the big screen, all in one...

catdad:
Thank you for the long comment. I know you put some thought into it. I go through phases of focussing on different meals. There was a Trader Joe's phase for a while. The only thing I consistently really like from them now are their frozen cooked tail-off 70-110 ct shrimp (a staple in my freezer at all times) and a couple of their simmer sauces. I'll probably go through another phase with them at some point.

I currently have five kitties. Josie was my oldest and I finally had her put to sleep due to kidney failure last summer. I also have strays wander through. Some are tame enough to get adopted at the humane society, others are sick and I've had to have them put to sleep, and others wander on to other places after stealing some of Otis's food for a few days.

Thanks for the advice. My grampa has been in a care facility for about 16 months (he'll be 90 in November). About two years ago, his doctor recommended he consider hip replacement due to his difficulty getting around and the amount of pain he had. He considered it because the doctor told him he'd be in the hospital for only seven to ten days. Once he found out he'd have to go through rehab for another six or eight weeks after that, he didn't want to have anything to do with it, because he'd "lose his freedom". Several months later, he was finally unable to take care of himself and had to go to the hospital for a couple of weeks to get his health back. While there, dementia really set in and he's struggled with it from time to time since (he showed subtle signs of it prior, but finally losing his ability to take care of himself seemed to push him over the edge). And he's been bedridden with only limited ability to get around in a wheelchair ever since, as well (so much for maintaining his freedom by not getting that hip replacement). So, even if he gets it now and can walk again, he'll still have to remain in a facility designed for people with dementia. He is completely dependent on medicare and the facility he's lived in this last year is set up to do rehabilitation as well. We aren't impressed with some of the people working there or management, but he has remained healthy, so they are doing some things right. The more we hound them, the better they respond.

My younger cat likes the dog, but he knew him right from when he was a kitten. The older cat definitely doesn't like the dog.

The nerve you have! Keep that kind of crap up and I'll no longer be willing to eat those great salads you make. Well, ok, that seems a little harsh, but you are hereby on double secret probation.

Holy crap I had a great time in Palm Springs and LA!! I was able to visit with a bunch of my friends while there, see some good movies, soak in some hot springs, eat great food, meet new people, and also just relax and generally have a good time, despite working at my office in LA for 3 days, but even that was pretty...

Quick update! Back from my trip, which was great, despite the fact that we had several days of 100% humidity and I came back with more than my fair share of bug bites. I love Mexico, and I love the sound of the ocean outside my door and I LOVE not having anything to do but eat and relax in beautiful surroundings!

In case you...

Have you ever seen Bullitt?
I really liked this film a lot! These days it's pretty hard to find a cop/action flick that's not over the top, but in 1968,...
