OK. well, a message is sort of like an email, it is only visible by the sender and the recipient and the SG staff I guess. So private things would be sent as a message. You obviously know how to send a message.
Now a comment, is a responce to the journal post or general conversation in blog style. It will show up under the journal post of the person you are commenting to or on the discussion board publically. To post a comment, you fill in the box at the bottom of the page, on your page it is directly below this comment. when you are done filling out the box, click submit (once) and you comment will be posted on the page you are on. So if you want to post a comment to someone, go to their journal page and their comment box will be at the bottom of the page. You will also notice on the right of the comment box are a series of smilies that if you click on one will appear in the comment and the commands like url, member name, ,,,, they will automatically add the xml code to create hyperlinks and such. Just click on say Bold Text and fill in the little popup box with what you want to be bold and click ok. You will see it added with the tags before and after and once you click submit it registers as a command to do what you want.
