Less than four weeks as a courier and I've already had my first accident on the job. A car that had previously been stationary decided to make a sudden U-turn from the rightmost lane of a four-lane street while I was passing it in the lane to left. I went flying over the hood and landed without sustaining more than a few bruises (as far as I can tell right now) but my one and only bike was damaged well beyond repair. I already have a source lined up for a new old road bike and I should be rolling again by tomorrow afternoon; all that remains is to see whether the driver of the car will be paying for it.
