Things seem a fair bit better than they were. Always nice once class starts up again (hurray for nightschool!). The zine is going exceedingly well, though I never want to cut out another felt heart in my life. I think I'm up to 180 right now. Stupid wanting things glued in my zine grrr...
valcapone:
Felt hearts? Ooh! I'll trade you zines, if I can make it to Toronto for the 30th. Or even if I can't! What's it called?

Whoa, I've been gone for a while it seems. Things have just been super busy and kind of boring. I need to work on that. Also, I need to get out of this fucking city. It's starting to eat my brain.
valcapone:
Hey, I noticed you posted Canzine in the SG events... just wanted to let you know that I'm gonna (hopefully!) be there with my zine, Black Heart, in case you wanted to stop by and introduce yourself. smile

In the meantime, you can check out our website... http://blackheartmagazine.com

Hope to see you there!
valcapone:
Nope, I've never been. But wtf is up with the dates?? My co-partner-in-crime just told me the website claims Canzine is scheduled for October 30 in Toronto now. I'm pretty sure all the ads I saw (and the last time I checked the website) were for Oct. 9. Am I losing my mind?!

After a few days of crappy food (my dad suggested I eat birthday cake and white rice for dinner tonight, I laughed until I realized it was the only food in the house), I've decided to get back into cooking. Taking a class in a couple months and raiding my cookbooks now. If only I can rub off on the rest of the family a...

Ahhhh cooking. Unless it can be done on the bbq or with shake and bake I seem to be out of luck. tongue I did just buy a cookbook this weekend - perhaps I'll get around to trying some recipes.

jodi_marie:

Weeeeeird week. After finally sobering up from my week-long birthday bender, I decided to go out for some fun in the country. Which in this case was heading off to Gravenhurst with my best friend and her mother looking for the Tree Musuem. I'm working on a writing piece to being to my writing group's meeting tomorrow, but the three major things that happened were...

I had to have some irritation in my right eye looked at a few days after I'd started working as a courier. The optometrist had me use polysporin eyedrops for several days, he told me that at one point I'd gotten something like a large piece of metal stuck in it.

I managed to sober up at some point yesterday afternoon. Wowzers. So... Messy house, still no zine finished and the family is back. Not too worried though since my I.D. finally came on Thursday morning (no more sneaking in despite being legal!) and fun is being had.
Second best birthday present thusfar? A Batgirl Barbie. Ooooh yeah.
herenow:
What's the zine about?

House to myself for 4 days... Huzzah! Man, I'd feel so lame still living at home if not for the 12 year old sister. I mean, if they still have one of us kicking around... Yeah, so I still feel lame. But massive birthday parties make up for it. Oooh yes.
The wisdom teeth are still driving me insane. I'm going to have to do...

Avoiding the scale and I've started knitting a scarf for Neil. Seems to be helping.
I'm rethinking a lot of my plans for next year. If I am going to go to art school, I don't really need to be taking all these college classes. I'm cutting back on them, focusing on getting a job and saving some money, then pushing the hopeful cross-Canada road...

I'm at a company called Leader.

I have relatives in Victoria, and in a few months I'll have other relatives in Vancouver. I think I'd like to see that area at some point, it's densely populated enough to be interesting but not as badly polluted as the GTA.

When I lived in Guelph (ever so briefly) there was always this voice. Get out, go back. So I'm back in Toronto, I have been for almost a decade and that voice still hasn't shut up. Where do I run to from the biggest city in this country? Any fewer people and I'd scream, but I miss the stars. I miss being able to see...

Quick Messenger Service was actually the first place I applied to, but after a couple of weeks they still haven't gotten back to me. I don't think I've tried Zap yet, so maybe I will: For the time being I'm more worried about getting experience than making money, so a low-intensity company might almost be a good thing. I'm grateful to you and your friend for the information.

The antibiotics are a direct consequence of factory farming: Specifically the practice of feeding corn to cows when their gastric systems were never intended to handle it. The hormones are a consequence of greedy producers (also ultimately the reason for cornfeeding), they speed up production. You can buy beef containing none of those things from places like the aforementioned Mennonite farm: Kinder to the animals, easier on the environment, healthier for the consumer, but slightly more expensive (due to lopsided farming subsidies, but I won't get started on that). Although of course there's nothing wrong with being a vegetarian if circumstances allow.

Feel better soon.
