Today is the first day it has been cold enough to wear my new jacket, proudly designed by myself.

Today we honor all those who have served in our armed services. Be they Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or National Guard, they chose to serve our country, to protect us all, to preserve liberty, and to defend freedom. For that we are eternally grateful. Although we only set aside this one day of our year, we are in your debt every single...

We will all have times in our lives that are a defining moment. A time that everything else is measured against. You will separate you life into before it happened and after. For me that time was ten years ago.

Ten years ago last night I went to bed with a huge storm in the Gulf of Mexico that forecasters predicted would make landfall in...

Wow, what an amazing story. I am so happy that you, your family, and the kitties were safe! I can't imagine what it would be like to have two hours to grab everything and anything, without knowing when I would be able to return. We were hit hard during Sandy & Irene at my home in NJ, but only lost what was on the first floor. Luckily I had taken our photo albums with me. They mean more to me than my laptop, TVs, and video games combined. What were some of the things that you made sure to grab before you left?

This is an ongoing series of sketches I've done that started with a conversation with a friend. He asked me if I got a tattoo, what would I get. I found this a hard question to answer. It would have to be something meaningful and inspirational to me. I sat down with my sketch pad and came up with my sketch for "Courage". The celtic

nice draws ! I love celtic cross and it history. :) I was thinking about having a celtic/viking tattoo too, but tattoos must always be representative (my opinion). I love your idea :)

This is great! I love the intricacy of Celtic artwork, especially the crosses! You should get this done ❤ Show us more!

You are most certainly welcome. When I saw the original photograph on your set, I just felt compelled to draw it.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day when it began in 1868. It is a national holiday to honor all Americans who have died in military service.

All across this wonderful country, every memorial day a ritual is carried out thru the day. At dawn, the flag of the United States of America is briskly raised to the top of the staff then

I dislike how Memorial Day has become a day to buy things on sale and get drunk though. That's not exactly a great way to remember our fallen heroes.
hephestuss:
I agree entirely @iggy. It has become like so many other holidays. People have long forgotten the reason behind them and they don't care as long as they get a day off of work (unlike me). The reason you're free to shop or get drunk at a bbq (or crawfish boil here in New Orleans) is the sacrifice of over a million men and women.

My attempt to capture even the smallest portion of the beauty of these wonderful women. I am by no strech of the imagination a professional artist, at best I am a dabbler.

well..doodling

Give me a scrap of paper, a writing increment and a few minutes and I'll bee doodling

Case in point:

A pen and ink doodle last night, for no better reason than I bought a new fountain pen and hadn't done a pen and ink drawing to a heck of a long time. Not so bad for a scant couple of minutes.
