It seems like I don't get to post happy blogs very often. Today's pseudo-rant is about how I will be homeless if I can't find a way to make $400 today. I know what you're going to say and I've already tried that. It doesn't work. If you knew the town I lived in you would understand why. (I am of course referring to hooking, stripping and other similar, unsavory work).
Why do I need 400 bucks? you ask. I will tell you;
My room mate, who was my best friend, has been living with me and sharing my apartment for 3 years. We split the rent 50/50 and that's 400 bones each on the first of every month. We also split the cable/internet bill 50/50 and that's 65 bucks each for which he's decided to stiff me on for 2 months so actually I need $530 but whatever.....
Ok. I find out in the middle of the night that he's packing up and leaving. No notice whatsoever. Just taking off and leaving me stranded and stiffing me for a month's rent and 2 month's cable. My rent is due today. I don't have it, I can't get it and I have no idea what I can do in this situation. I can't borrow the money because I have no means to pay it back. Yes, I do have a job and yes, I work very hard to take care of myself but I am also a university student. I am an adult student who receives NO ASSISTANCE at all for paying school fees. That means I don't have an OSAP loan, I don't have a student line of credit from a bank, I don't have parents or family that can help me with this money. I pay for my very expensive education on my own.
So this douchebag that used to be my most cherished friend and the only person in this whole world that I can count on has decided to throw it all away and leave me high and dry and possibly out on the street with no rhyme or reason for why he is doing this to me.
We are so close and there was no indication at all that he was going to do anything like this. It would have been totally acceptable if he came to me with a month's notice and told me he was going to move out. I would have enough time to find another room mate. Instead, he waits until the day the rent is due and springs the news on me that he's taking off and I can go fuck myself because he's not paying rent.
I am completely broken-hearted over this. Not only do I now have debilitating financial woes but I am losing my best, my only, friend.
Are all men like this?
If they are, somebody sure as shit better tell me now so that I don't ever make the mistake of befriending another one.
Sincerely yours,
The broken-hearted and utterly alone Helixx

I'm still in the hole for a bunch of money but my situation seems a bit less daunting this week than it did last week. I sold a bunch of my stuff and got some cash scraped together for rent, shut off the cable and all that stuff. I got some overtime at work but I won't see that money for another few weeks. Oh well, people worse off than me have found ways to make it work and so shall I.
