well, my first trip to Vegas was tons o' fun. a whole week might be too long, but i did ok. came out ahead on gambling ($100 on roulette and $40 on blackjack), but a net loss for the week of course with hotel and airfare and food and shows and all. but still a roaring good time.

pictures will be up at some point....

things fall apart. a prolonged fuck-up comes to a head. i watch the effects ripple outward. i wonder what's in store. i want to dig a hole and crawl in.

and at the same time, a ray of sunshine from the oddest (and somehow, most welcome) place.

who the hell knows what's going to happen, but the next few weeks are going to be VERY...

i never used to put much stock in the whole concept of mood being affected by weather. but i must say, having been in a funk the last week or so, the suddenly gorgeous sunny weather of the past two days has greatly improved my mood. i found it impossible to be down about anything with the sun shining.

we may only get one more...

Heh. You were housed, my brother.

The major crises on this end weren't really a major crises (hence the nice thick sock metaphor). I just started a new part-time job after gettin' hit with a period of some pretty intense parenting. Katie had a long weekend booked up with yoga seminar type stuff, so it was just me n' the little one one-on-one for lengthy periods o' time, all of which led up to D-Day job wise. It was a rough week, but I survived.

And what's the new job, you ask? Scoopin' frozen custard, man!

League to players: "I still love you, baby. Let's not fight."

"In a statement released Friday night, the players' association said the NHL made the offer late Thursday night to get back together. NHL spokesman Frank Brown told ESPN that the league had no comment on the reports.."

i'll believe it when i see it, but i can't help but be happy...

To me the tardest thing about the strike is- the Tampa Bay Lightning continue to be the World Champions
puke puke puke
Goddamned Florida expansion teams.

...but it's a good thing the NHL expanded into markets that couldn't support them, because.... oh wait, I'm sorry, it's a bad thing financially, and now the league might fold!!! Way to go, guys!!!!!

I mostly just watch NFL ball anyway; the rest don't really do it for me, but I'd prefer NHL over NBA or MLB...

I went to a Chinese new year banquet tonight put on by the Philadelphia Taijiquan Association. i ate a little octopus. i ate jellyfish. i never imagined i'd be saying that.

it was a fun night, lots of great food and enthralling demonstrations. watching David Briggs perform was just mind-numbing. i got a set of prayer flags as a door prize.

my fortune,...

So, the jellyfish sounds like soy sauce jello, I don't think I'll be tempted to try it any time soon. You are a brave fellow. S'funny, I'm a vegetarian in all but seafood, I love sushi more than life itself, well, some people's lives anyway. Yeah, I'd kill for sushi. ARRR!!!

Yes. Scanners are sorta cheapish right now, you need to share more art. Art is good.

Funny you should mention fortunes....

So tonight Katie and my mom (who's in town right now) and I got Chinese food for dinner. My fortune was something along the lines of, "Teh [sic] greatest sin is Ignorance". My first thought was, "No, I think that a priest raping an alterboy is a much greater sin than ignorance." I don't know, maybe that's just me.

I think my all time favorite fortune though was one that I still carry around with me in my wallet. It read simply, "You look pretty." Word.

A'yup,
