I've seen desperation.
The sort that arises from the detached isolation when we believe no one can love us. When we're more alone and more vulnerable than ever. Watched others in this state flail in a futile fight to keep those they love from walking away. Wondered why they couldn't see that it was their own fear and frustration driving them into abandonment just when they needed someone most.
Found myself standing then, desperate and alone. Fighting to Keep something already long gone. So I loosened my iron grip and let it go.
What madness lies in the wake of love now lost?

Many things will masquerade as love to fool any or all of us but the real thing, while it may change, will never die.

I feel like I've been here before too. So beautifully put. Thank you for sharing.
