The housekeeping didn't go well, but better than it could have been. I ended up making no changes. This also meant I made no progress towards running X-Com, either. Bummer.
On Saturday, I went over to Silver Spring to grab a copy of Richard Florida's Cities and the Creative Class from the Borders and see Ocean's 12. I enjoy caper movies, the moreso when the players do not spontaneously combust into song and dance. So this pack was also better in that regard as well. My prediction: 13 is inevitable, and necessarily will be set in Asia. Europe and the States have been done, and 13 is sometimes lucky, sometimes not there. Who else can be added? I'd say the best choice would be an older/dangerous (there's that bad luck again) femme fatale type for Linus. As for the cities, I'd predict Bangkok, Shenzhen or HK, and Osaka.
I've forgotten twice now just how much ice cream the mediums at Cold Stone are. Goddamn, they're big. They also still don't have red hots as a mix-in.
Cities will make excellent reading on my flight to Miami, but it was a bit of a risk. What I really want for Christmas is to see P&P list the author sometime in January, but they've made no announcement. I had debated waiting to see if I should buy from them, but I don't have that much self control.
Today, I was about three minutes late to the start of a cool film on Japanese gardens the National Building Museum ran. The place was swarming with kids on account of the nasty weather, the origami and Japanese kid exhibit, and the huge indoor space they have to run around in, I suspect. I think they moved the tables to the sides to get the place ready for the Shrub's inaugural ball. Even though it is relatively simple, I also passed a pleasant ten minutes enjoying the fountain. The gift shop was cool; they had a funny title called Home Desecrations, a snarky catalog of seventies abominations. They also had a copy of Cities! If I'd only known, I'd have waited a day and brought my membership card for the discount.
After that, I say House of Flying Daggers. Another visual stunner! I thought the story wasn't as good as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or Hero but it was okay.
