wow, been a bit.
so what's new?
uh...
still delivering pizzas, still smashing planets.
the band has another lineup issue. the new second guitar player moved to minnesota after a dispute with his adoptive gradparents over his father's attempts to contact him.
the singer, who brought the guitarist on, ended up lying about the reason he was taking his p.a. speakers home one day and the next we found out he had joined a band that had caused us to lose many venues dues to their reckless behavior and vandalism. he had even claimed to have gotten some of their shows cancelled by contacting the venues and promoters and providing them with contact info for the places around here that they had ruined.
this may or may not have been true, as he appears to be a pathological liar.
all we know is that he joined the other band, and actually thought it would work out to be in circadia and this other band, who we have a beef with and who he claims to have screwed over himself.
he automatically assumed that it was the dual-band factor in our letting him go, but it was an integrity thing. you can't just rail on a band for how bad they are as people and then go right back to them as if nothing had happened.
i'm sure comeuppance will arrive eventually.
also, i thinkt he guy split with his fiance and may have quit college, which is all hilarious because those two things were his excuses for flaking out on band days.
so anyway, we had a second second guitarist lined up but he lives in iowa city, a god hour's drive from here, and his girlfriend and job situation were not cooperative.
he has since decided thathe can't commit and we're yet again in this position of looking for someone to learn a few old songs to get back out, all while writing new material.
so yesterday we jammed with mark, who recorded our album. we figured (as was my original idea before we hooked up with mic and seth) that, since he's a guitarist, and a good one, and he will know our material well, having recorded, comped and mixed it all, that he should be a shoo-in.
sho nuff, we got through three songs in a few hours yesterday and are jamming again tomorrow night. hopefully this works, if only for enough time to make some sort of progress.
so anyway, that's the band.
in other news, i got to hang out with jordan today. she's getting so big and says lots of words. she hugged me a lot today and was all smiley once she got over the shyness and i helped feed her lunch. then, when i left she said "bye-bye" and waved before hugging me again.
if all works well, i'll get to go over again tomorrow for a bit before band practice. a happier me, is very hard to find.
um, yeah. not much else. job's fun, money's decent. album's ready for mastering, little girl is beautiful and sweet.
life is pretty good right now.
later.
