CIRCADIA NEEDS YOUR HELP!
okay, here's the backstory:
i (handsome rob) contacted sean ingram (singer for coalesce aka hungary bear on the reggie and the full effect albums) about a guest vocal spot on our upcoming full-length album.
i was told that, due to the imminent release of their new 7" record, dvd, book and tour, he would be unable. however, he did listen to the track - the self-titled "circadia" (a live version is up on our myspace if you want to hear it) - and said that not only did he enjoy it, but that we should see abotu getting an opening spot at the lawrence, ks (read: their hometown) show at the end of the tour.
after later correspondence, i found out that the planning of the midwest tour was handed over to a third party, eleven productions (myspace.com/elevenproductions or uptoeleven.com).
sean told me he gave them our myspace and that he'd given us a good word with the booker, and to get ahold of them.
well, at first i went to their website and there was no contact information, whatsoever. no email, phone, fax, p.o. box, nothing. i then searched for a myspace or other means of contact. nothing as well.
one week later, i searched again and this time i found a myspace, apparently not up before, since this time it was on the top of the search list. i also searched for a business location or phone number, and while they had a listing, it didn't include any contact info.
i sent a message to the myspace explaining what i just explained about my contact with sean and asked what the dates and locations were, and what the chances of us getting on somewhere on the tour.
i received no reply in the next week, so i sent another one, similar content and asking for a reply. still nothing.
another week later, i sent a third message, searched again and found the business profile now had an address, phone number and email contact.
a this point, i saw that the official coalesce site had the dates up, and the initially suggested lawrence show had other bands listed as support.
i learned that they would be touring with a couple of bands but would be looking for local support.
i then noticed they had a show at the picador (formerly gabe's oasis) in iowa city - just a hop, skip and a jump from here.
so i sent a message to the picador's myspace, a message to eleven's myspace, an email to eleven, and an email tot he booking department at the picador. i also sent an email to sean explaining my difficulty in getting a reply from anyone but him.
aside from telling sean there was no need to reply, simply updaing him on my struggle, nobody else has replied to me AT ALL. the exception is the booking dept. at the picador, because i accidentally typed june instead of august in the subject line of that particular email. (i checked and found i correctly labeled august on all other correspondence) however, the email didn't address the isue i had sent the email about, and my reply to that email reiterating the issue has not be answered.
here's where you guys, our loyal friends list on myspace occupants, come in.
we need you guys to help flood their inbox with demands for circadia to open for coalesce.
the myspace is http://www.myspace.com/elevenproductions. go here, send a message and tell them they need to get circadia on the bill for iowa city with coalesce.
then, do like i did. go to your "sent messages" on your myspace profile and see if they read it. i have seen that every message i sent to these people has been read but not replied. somebody got the message, and they just haven't replied, be it laziness or business, we should still get the professional courtesy of a simple letdown if we're not to play.
also, go to http://www.myspace.com/coalesce and ask them to get eleven productions to at least answer their email or tell eleven productions they need to put circadia on the bill for iowa city on august 23 at the picador.
this will only work if a lot of people do this. so please, take a minute out of your busy schedule of reading my sg blog, and go to myspace.com/elevenproductions and tell them you want circadia to open the coalesce show in iowa city at the picador. if necessary, threaten to not go if they don't. hopefully the potential to lose ticket sales and thusly a large chunk of change in their pocket will make them take notice.
the more people that do this, the better the chance that we can open for a band we all idolize and the better chance that we might get noticed and be able to take this to the next level.
the way i see it, the lack of professionalism so far displayed by this company is getting in our way of making it in the music industry, and we can't abide by that.
go to http://www.myspace.com/elevenproductions and/or email jackieoh@elevenproductions.com as well and demand circadia for the iowa city show on august 23 at the picador.
hell, go to http://www.myspace.com/thepicador and demand it there too.
and while you're busy assaulting these peoples' inboxes, email doug@thepicador.com (the picador's booking staff) and request us on the bill for august 23.
the point is, we need your help to get us to the next level. we're nothing without our fans, whether it's at shows, promoting shows, or getting shows. we depend on you guys and gals to keep us alive and kicking.
so please help.
