Hmm, I'm not exactly sure what to say here. This is my first entry and perhaps it will simply be about me. I started working again this week; I teach at a small high school in south eastern Idaho. It is a fun job, but I was not ready at all to return. I spent two weeks prior to starting work re-roofing a friends house, not my idea of a vacation.
Teaching high school is a trip some days. Because the school I work at has roughly 500 students total, 9th through 12th, there is a lot of drama and rumor spreading. It sounds cocky to say, but because i am one of two male teachers that are young, and the only single one, I tend to find myself the focus of some of these rumors. So far I have apparently been married to three different teachers and had relationships with a few others. There was a teacher pregnant with twins, and for a bit it was the rumored father. Yes, apparently I am quite the man whore, unbeknown to myself.
I love my job, I teach composition and literature classes, but dealing with all of that crap really makes on wish that they were self employed. I guess that is the price for teaching in such a small town, there is nothing for the kids to do except drink, smoke weed, have sex, and gossip.
I will start applying for graduate school again in the next few months. I am hoping to get into Oregon State up in Eugene. They have a great phd program and I can emphasize in both Folklore and Pop Culture studies. I'm thinking I want to start examining Tattoo culture and the people who are part of it. There is a unique folk aspect to the philosophy behind tattoos and the people who give and receive them.
I am getting ready to get my first two tattoos. I'm planning on having two four leaf clovers done of my forearms, a Celtic knot version that I designed on the left arm, and a traditional leaf version on my right. I think that they will come out pretty cool, I just have to find an artist that I trust to do the work. I have cousin who lives in Cali that is learning the trade now, but its too far away to have him do that work-although he is the most talented artist I know!
Anyway, that is where I am right now, and now you know.
