I would have gone to jail.
I had an illustration teacher that was that big of a dick, and I did want to beat him up, and he probably wanted to beat me up as well. But we worked it out. I stopped attending his class, and he agreed to give me a "D" anyway.
After that, I transferred to the painting department where I belonged. I swore that I would never make commercial art of any sort-- be it illustration or design.
Twelve years later, after a long and rewarding career in the service industry, I figured out that people are willing to pay me a fuckload more cash to compose space for their brochures than they were to bring them food and wine.
I was very lucky-- I had three fan-fucking-tastic painting instructors, all of whom had very different styles and all of whom had a big impact on what I was doing.
Nowadays, I don't paint as much, but you can check what I do at: www.cklarock.com
