So the Ren faire was totally fun. It was very kid friendly without being Disney. It turns out there are three fairs a year SD county, two in Escondido in the Spring and Fall and the Summer one in Balboa Park. We all got majorly sunburnt and were exhausted but very happy. Next faire we're doing costumes. biggrin biggrin biggrin Geekiness is fun!

You know, I've never been to a Ren Faire, but I'm very curious about them. I wanted to go to the one in Balboa, but I had NO time. Hopefully next year. Glad you guys had fun! smile
lhia:
I had no idea about the one at Balboa. My old boss tried to give me tickets to the spring one, but I bowed out because he and his friends/family dress up and everything, and I didn't want to be disrespectful of them (since that still has some of the freak-show aspect for me). Now I really want to go, at least to observe, and maybe even work up to the dressing up =)

I'm going to local renaissance fair tomarrow (Sunday) It was definately a good time last year. It's small and unpretentious but still resonably authentic. Maybe I'll see some locals there? http://www.thesdrf.com/index.htm

The problem with busting your ass to put on a really killer party is that you feel totally fried and a little let down afterwords. I think all of San Diegos finest and most active SG people are in this state now. We pulled off Con-Damnation and it was good but now it seems like most of us can barely take the time to log...

I feel kind of like I did when I was expecting Miles, but less worried. SGSD is about to give birth to a rock and roll extravaganza! I must try to sleep. I must work tomarrow and the next day, but then... Where's that jumping up and down with excitement emoticon?

YAY for rock and roll!
and good news on the boards too smile

miles is the coolest name for a kid, good job. thank you for not naming him dakota.

looking forward to seeing you at the con...i am sure i'll see you wandering around. its not hard to pick out a fellow mod in a crowd, especially at a comic book convention. i'll be wearing my custom fred perry star trek uniform. the wreath doubles as a communicator smile

Yeah i think the whole " super secret interbet screename " thing has lost its charm smile I realized at shakespear when I was meeting people , it is so much easier to just say " Hi I'm Mike " . . . maybe i am just getting old biggrin

I have the constitution of a Goat....I will not have food troubles on my expedition!!! Sorry I haven't been much help with Con-Damnation but I will be there the Night of the show.

Such a big site, oh so little time. Lately I have been so busy at both work and home that time on the site has been limited to 15-30 minutes a day if Im lucky. With Con-Damnation coming up about 80% of that time is spent on SGSD related matters. When I first took over SGSD I spent about a third of my on-site time...

I cropped my hair down to a number four a couple days ago. I found that that running around short on sleep meant that my hair usually looked like something birds were picking at for nesting material. I won't be needing those pesky comb things for a while now. smile

dang grey ...wish I had known. I woulda saved them for you. Those were the last of the collection.

my dad was a member of the denver club when I was a kid. When my parents split, I took the pewter steins to college with me (where they were promptly stolen at a party). I found the black glass steins recently hiding in my mom's basement and was disappointed to discover that they weren't much on e-bay ...yard-saled 'em for a buck a piece.

how's the wee one?
pantoppon:
thanks for the welcome. ive got time to kill for a few more days here.
are you really a librarian?

I'm back to work again. It was a nice if exhausting break but I won't have truely normal and consistant sleep again for most of the summer, or really until they're both off to college, so here I am. Making a living again.

so true... and i *still*envy you, nevertheless.

i wonder, should we maybe open a new comi-con thread over in lifestyles? i realize it actually belongs in hookup, but it just won't stay up. and it's getting to close to the event, so drumming up interest is important, no?
bettie:
I'm such a whimp about sleep. I think I need more sleep than the average person.

She was having moderate full uterus contractions every hour or two for about two days, but then the slacked off over the last two days and we're back to the Braxton Hicks stuff. whatever We're in for a fetal stress exam tomarrow to see if she can wait a while longer. I figured out what part of nerves etc. were from. I was getting a cold....

let me know if you need some advice on the cold front (heh) ...doctoring is my gig.

for her... a nice back massage (get those shoulders and neck really well), ice on the feet and a few rounds of intense orgasms ...should get those contractions kicked into gear.

good luck

My thoughts are with you both, E-man.

This will all pass soon enough.
